Don’t be snitchin! That’s the moral of the story in Ex$pendable, Frank Jackson and Eric Lowe’s extremely dense urban crime epic.
By giving me a copy of the movie to write about, Maverick Entertainment Group has challenged me with an extremely dense storyline, delving into the culture of the Philadelphia Police Department’s informant system. Two
gang-banging brothers want in on a rival crime lord’s gun cache and are more than happy to start making trouble in his neighborhood. Unfortunately, one brother’s wife happens to be an informant: a clear impetus for all hell to break loose in Philly’s seamy underbelly. A lot of violence and no free trip to Bel-Air for anyone who gets into any little fight.
Ex$pendable is available on DVD October 12! Buy it, Rent it, Queue it up!

Maverick Entertainment Group’s new release Street Boss is absolutely awesome! Its one of the best mafia movies I’ve seen in a long time. For an independent film Street Boss is shot amazingly well. The film work is excellent and the acting is phenomenal. It has violence, police corruption, family ties, extortion and a badass rogue FBI agent named Phil Kerby who’s trying to put a stop to all of it. To make the movie even better, it’s based on the True events of Phil Kerby’s life as an FBI agent.

Street Boss is based out of Detroit one of the grittiest cities in the country. Tony Jack ran the mob and owned the city, no one dared cross him or stand in the way. In fact he had a large portion of the Detroit police force on his payroll. Tony used his power to extort business owners everywhere in the surrounding areas, taking more from them then they could even make. That’s until Phil Kerby was placed on the scene, Phil like many others was transferred to the Detroit FBI force on bad behavior. Without giving too much away, let’s just say he had a bit of a violent past. Phil was determined to stop the police corruption and bring down Jack and the Detroit Mob.
You can experience Street Boss for yourself on DVD July 6th! In the meantime you can prepare yourself for the movie by checking out the book the movie is based off of With Honor and Purpose written by Phil Kerby. Buy it, Rent it, or Queue it up today! Street Boss is also available OnDemand so check you local listings!

In the beginning of Rent-A-Car, a man digs gobs of messy fried chicken out of a box of Fruit Loops.
Really, this would be a perfect place to stop the review as it’s all you need to
know about this upcoming Maverick Entertainment Group release, which recently landed on my desk. However, I’m going to elaborate more on this fine film anyway.
Li’l Man (the aforementioned whom keeps his chicken in the cereal box) and D-Stacks realize that their days of randomly hocking bootleg DVDs on the streets are numbered when the local crime lord/record producer starts unleashing his own brand of copyright enforcement that the RIAA can only have naughty dreams about. They were apparently extremely good at the bootleg trade, considering they landed a Rent-A-Ride overnight. Of course, this only delays the wrath of our local insane record producer as he leaves a big wad of his own ill-gotten gains in a rented car that just happens to go AWOL, and then gives Li’l Man and D-Stack an ultimatum to get the cash back or face less-than-pleasant consequences.
Throughout this ordeal, our heroic duo deals with delinquent renters, an up-and-coming rapper, and an ex-convict who’s mind, by and large, never left the penitentiary.
It’s a perverse, outrageous undertaking from beginning to end and will be sure to keep you in stitches. Rent-A-Car comes out on DVD on July 13, 2010. Rent it, buy it or queue it. Word!
