ALMA Award Winning Daytime Actress And One Of People En Espanol’s 2003 25 Most Beautiful People Teams With South Florida-Based Production Company On Numerous Projects

Ft. Lauderdale - Quickly becoming one of the most highly sought after crossover talents, Eva Longoria has signed on as the lead in the newest Breakaway Films production Carlita’s Secret, announces company partner Doug Schwab. The film--which marks the second Breakaway Films project starring Longoria--begins production later this month throughout South Florida.

Longoria plays Carlita in the sensual thriller about a young girl who dreams of becoming a Broadway dancer. The story follows Carlita, as she runs from police and her past, and changes her identity. In her quest for stardom she becomes the most popular entertainer in Miami’s legendary South Beach.

Carlita’s Secret is based on an original story by Breakaway partner Ron Castell.

Also starring in Carlita’s Secret are Maria Bravo, Playboy Playmate of the Year Latin America Alejandra Gutierrez, Steve Roth, Celestin Cornielle and Alain Mora. George Cotayo directs the film, with Breakaway Films partners Doug Schwab, Ron Castell and Pamela White executive producing.

Longoria, an ALMA Award winner for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama for her work on The Young And The Restless, has also won rave reviews as co-producer and co-star of Hot Tamales Live, an all female comedy show that celebrates diversity. Additionally, she will soon be seen starring in the new series The Talent Agency for Western International Syndication, with Alex Thomas (The Jamie Foxx Show, Moesha). Recently, Longoria has the distinction of being named one of People En Espanol’s 2003 25 Most Beautiful People.

The deal was negotiated for Longoria by Geneva Bray of GVA Talent Agency, Linda Reitman of Linda Reitman Management and Schwab and White for Breakaway Films.

Carlita’s Secret marks the second Latino-themed film to be generated by the recently-formed Breakaway Films. Longoria also starred in the company’s actionier Senorita Justice appearing with Mexican film and telenovela star Edith Gonzalez, and Latin music sensation Tito Puente Jr. Newcomer Yancy Medina starts in the title role.

Schwab, Castell and White formed the production company in the Fall of 2002, and have already earned the reputation as of one of the busiest independents in the Industry, producing nine films in the eight months since the company’s inception. In addition to Carlita’s Secret and Senorita Justice, the company has also produced the Urban titles I Accidentally Domed Your Son with Kurupt, Out On Parole featuring comedian Speedy and The Hustle with Ruff Ryder rapper Drag-On as well as the highly-touted A Miami Tail starring rap sensation Trina in her feature film debut.

Schwab, Castell and White bring more than fifty years combined experience to Breakaway Films, which plans to executive produce between 12 to 15 films per year.
