Maverick Global, the recently launched international arm of the leading
domestic home video distributor, Miami-based Maverick Entertainment
Group, is poised to make a splash on the Riviera with the debut of its
global sales unit at this year's Cannes Film Market, May 17-27, it was
announced today by MEG's President Doug Schwab.

Maverick Global's foray into the sellers' arena at this year's Cannes
Film Market, premiering a seven title slate, highlighted by Mobster
tale This Thing of Ours, starring James Caan, Frank Vincent and
Vincent Pastore, and horror film Mr. Hell, featuring Tracy
Scoggins.
Already an established buyer in the international arena,
Maverick Global first unveiled plans to expand its sales division
globally at the 2005 American Film Market in Los Angeles. Since then, the
company's global sales division, headed by Director of International Sales
Jack Campbell, has attended such major markets as NATPE, Berlin and
MIPTV.

This Thing of Ours (2006) Label: Maverick Platinum; Runtime: 100
mins - Nicholas Santini (Danny Provenzano) is a young man trying to
earn his “button” as a full-fledged member of the governing counsel of a
New Jersey-based Cosa Nostra chapter, better know as, The Mob. Trying to
impress his notorious elders, including his influential Uncle Danny
(Frank Vincent, The Sopranos), he schemes up a spectacular robbery
that can make millions. As he is no longer content to plunder tractor
trailers on New Jersey highways, Nick conspires with a computer genius
from the old neighborhood in Brooklyn to plant a modified computer chip
on a communications satellite that will allow him to siphon off spare
change from several million bank accounts. But his Internet bank scam
leads to a fateful meeting when Nick is forced to choose between loyalty
to his friends and a promotion in the organization. Or, a death verdict
for one of their own.This Thing of Ours stars James Caan of
The Godfather, Frank Vincent and Vincent Pastore of The

Label: Creep; FX 103 min - The notorious serial killer Harry Eugene
Loveless, AKA Mr. Hell, roamed from town-to-town and job-to-job, brutally
murdering his victims, with the demonic intention of removing the
windows to the soul - their eyes! Mr. Hell mutilated Dr. Karl Matthews at a
government laboratory, where biological weapons were secretly being
developed. The doctor's precocious daughter, Tyler, who discovered her
fathers body with his eyes missing, was then pursued by Harry through the
lab's subterranean tunnels. During the chase, Harry was accidentally
destroyed by toxic industrial acid, and his remains flowed into a
storage container. Was this the end for Mr. Hell? Directed by Rob McKinnon
and starring Tracy Scoggins, Pavan Grover and Danny
Kamin.
Nora's Hair Salon (2005) Label: Maverick Global; Runtime: 84
mins -
Nora (Jennifer Lewis, Madea's Family Reunion) is the
widowed, no-nonsense owner of the Nora's Hair Salon. This California
salon is filled with an eclectic melting pot of folks thought of by Nora
as "family" rather than "employees." Lilleanna, desperate for a job,
instantly becomes the salon's newest family member after proving her
mastery of the follicle arts on a botched client. When Lilleanna shows up
to work black-eyed and bandaged thanks to her boyfriend, Bennie (Bobbie
Brown, TV's Being Bobby Brown), her new family rallies behind
her. Directed by Jerry LaMothe, and stars Jennifer Lewis, Bobby Brown
and Tatyana Ali.
Side FX (2004) Label: Creep
FX; Runtime: 85 mins - Sex, drugs and rock-and-roll will never be the
same after a medieval sex drug makes a comeback on the college party
scene. Everyone wants to try this “orgasm” drug but no one considers the
side effects. This drug took its first victims in 1646. The church soon
discovered that the blood-drained corpses found around the countryside
were due to a powerful elixir that made select victims thirst for
blood. While under its influence average men and women turn into animals.
The church destroyed much of the drug and vampires, so they thought. It’s
now modern day and some medieval vials have been discovered. No one
knows this drug makes you thirst for blood and its side effect can kill
you. Directed by Patrick Johnson, and starring Amanda Phillips, Todd
Swift and Aaron Garrett.
The Bahama Hustle
(2004) Label: Maverick Platinum; Runtime: 105 mins - Up and coming rappers
Ace and Cool Breeze dream of becoming the next big thing in the rap
world. After making a deal with Slick and Red, two promoters who promise
wealth and success, they take out a loan from a local loan shark, Daddy
T. To secure the loan Daddy T requires them to sign over body part as
collateral. Their worlds crash when they discover that the two crooked
rap promoters have ripped them off. After Discovering that Slick and Red
have run off to the Bahamas with their money and original recordings,
they must travel to the Bahamas to hustle their money and recordings
back in time to pay off Daddy T, who is in hot pursuit to collect his
collateral, their body parts. Directed by Dwayne DC Coles and starring
Doctor Dre and Ed Lover, Cassandra Lewis and Lady
T.
Surrender (2005) Label: Desire; Runtime: 72 mins - Naive newcomer
Georgia is thrust into the intoxicating life of her charismatic lesbian
housemate. Salene is a struggling writer trying to escape a haunted
past by submerging herself into research about S/M. As their mutual
attraction ignites, Georgia joins Salene in a tour of the S/M underground
scene. When a murder occurs in an underground club, Salene is the prime
suspect. While the shock of the murder, accusation brings Salene back to
the mainstream, roles are reversed and Georgia takes in the role of the
dominatrix. The two embark on an underground journey of whippings,
submission and hot lesbian sex at bath time. Directed by Kathering Brooks,

Woods of Evil (2005) Label: Creep FX; Runtime: 85 mins -
Needing fast cash, Ray and Dice kidnapped the daughter of a real-estate
mogul, Charisse, and her rich friend Sonia for ransom. With the help of
their ex-con friend Paco, they take the girls to a secluded cabin in
the woods. The woods, however, are home to something more dangerous. An
unexpected fate awaits them as they all try to survive in the woods of
evil. Directed by Conrad Glover and stars Glover, Jaime Velez and
Christopher Farmer.
