Breakaway Films
Formed in the fall of 2002, Doug Schwab has established
a separate
production company Breakaway Films with industry veterans
Ron Castell and
Pamela White. The South Florida-based production company
has already earned
the distinction of becoming one of the busiest independents
in the industry,
producing 14 films less than 16 months.
Among the titles executive produced under the Breakaway
Films banner so far
this year in 2004 include the films La Migra starring Alpha
Acosta,
Francisco Gattorno, Gabriel Travesari and Salvador Pineda
and A Night In
Compton, an urban comedy starring Roscoe and Tiny 'Zeus'
Lister.
A Night In Compton was just recently honored with the 2004
Audience Choice
Award at the Hollywood Black Film Festival this past June.

While some of the Breakaway Films productions may be distributed
under the
Maverick Entertainment umbrella, the majority of them will
be released by
major and/or mini-major studios.
